STEVENS POINT Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team opened up WIAC conference play with a 58-53 road win over UW-Stevens Point.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Pointers got on the board first taking an early 2-0 lead that would only last a few second before Taylor Karge sank a three to give the Falcons their first lead of the game.
- Both teams battled back and forth for control in the first quarter with the Falcons getting the largest lead of the quarter when Anna Rollag drove in for a layup and then made two free throws to give the Falcons a five point lead with 1:58 remaining.
- The Falcons maintained their lead through the majority of the second quarter only allowing the Pointers within one point, that was until the final seconds of the half when Lexi Rolland hit a jumper to give the Pointers a one point advantage going into the break.
- Taylor Karge tied it up 29-29 minutes into the second half and it was followed with each team exchanging the lead until the final minute of the quarter when Point went up three on a Lexi Rolland three.
- In the fourth, the Falcons went on a six point run to put themselves up 47-43. The Pointers answered tying it up 51-51 at the four minute mark.
- Jaycie Gerding made two free throws and Brynn Liljander made a shot from downtown with a minute remaining giving the Falcons a five point advantage that would be too much for the Pointers to come back from.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Brynn Liljander had 12 points on the night from 4-8 shooting. She connected on two of her four three point shots and was 2-2 from the line.
- Anna Rollag came off the bench scoring 11 points. She was 4-8 from the floor and 2-2 from the charity stripe.
- As a team, UWRF was 18-47 (38.3 percent) and shot 6-16 (37.5 percent) from beyond the arc. The Falcons were 16-22 (72.7 percent) at the line.
THE OPPOSITION
- Lexi Roland led UWSP with 14 points on 4-13 shoting. She had three assists, two steals and two boards.
- Taylor Barrett added 13 points with five rebounds and four blocks.
- Mickley Roland had an impressive game high 15 rebounds and narrowly missed a double-double with nine points. She added four assists and three steals.
- The Pointers shot 18-55 (32.7 percent) from the floor and were 14-24 (58.3 percent) from the charity stripe.

The Falcons who are now 10-2 on the season return home to take on UW-Whitewater. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at Page Arena.
