Women's Basketball wins by 26 Points

WHITTIER, Calif. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team picked up their second win of the weekend as they defeated Emmanuel College 82-56.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Saints got on the board first taking the lead before the Falcons went on a seven point run to take a five point lead. 
  • The Saints answered with a three-pointer from Madison Mclaughlin and took back the lead. 
  • Both teams battled back and forth and at the end of the first quarter the Falcons were up by six.
  • The Falcons maintained their lead through the second quarter and went into the halftime break up by thirteen points. 
  • In the third quarter, the Falcons extended their lead to nineteen.
  • The Falcons started the fourth quarter with a seven point run.
  • With a three pointer by Crystal Pearson at the halfway mark of the fourth quarter the Falcons had their biggest lead of the night which was 29 points.
  • The Falcons scored nineteen points in the quarter and finished the game up 26 points. 
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • The Falcons were led by Brynn Liljander who scored 19 points on 6-14 shooting.  She was 5-6 from the charity stripe and added three rebounds and three steals. 
  • Crystal Pearson was the second leading scorer with 17 points.  She was 6-11 from the floor and had seven rebounds. 
  • Taylor Karge scored 12 points on 5-9 shooting.  She was 2-3 from the line and had five rebounds. 
  • As a team, the Falcons were 29-64 (45.3 percent) from the floor and shot 17-21 (81 percent) from the charity stripe.  They made seven three point shots and the bench scored 33 points. 

THE OPPOSITION
  • The Saints had four players in double digit points.  Madison McLaughlin and Yuleska Ramirez-Teje each had twelve points.  McLaughlin was 4-7 from the floor with all four shots being from beyond the arc.  Ramirez-Teje was 4-11 from the floor and 4-8 from the free throw line.  She also added six rebounds.
  • Mary McCarthy and Kayla Weaver each had eleven points.  McCarthy was 4-10 with eight rebounds.
  • Weaver rounded out the Saints players who had double digit points with eleven points.  She was 4-7 from the floor and was 3-4 from the line.   
  • The Saints shot 19-57 (33.3 percent) from the floor. They made seven three-points shots and were 14-34 (58.3.5 percent) from the free throw line
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons, who are the defending conference champions, begin WIAC conference play Wednesday January 3rd against UW-Stevens Point.  Start of game is set for 7 p.m.
