Falcons End Florida Trip With 2 More Wins

Clermont, Fla. (uwrfsports.com) –  The UW-River Falls softball team played their final two games in Clermont, Florida on Saturday. The Falcons used three home runs in their first game to get a big 11-1 victory over St. Lawrence. Noelle Senour led the Falcons with 2 homers in the second game to give the Falcons a 5-3 victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Senour hit 3 home runs on the day and knocked in 6 runs in two games. The Falcons end their spring break trip in Florida going 10-2 over a period of 6 days and return to Wisconsin with an overall record of 13-3.

WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST ST. LAWRENCE
  • St. Lawrence jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in their half of the first inning after stringing together three singles.
  • The Falcons answered in their half of the second inning with an Amber Galloway solo homer to tie the game up at 1.
  • The score stayed tied at 1, until the Falcons took the lead by pushing across three runs in the top of the 5th. The Falcons got RBI singles by Kaia Dorn and Noelle Senour to knock the first two runs of the inning. Shannan Borchardt hit a RBI double to deep left center to put the Falcons up 4-1.
  • The Falcons added four more runs in their half of the 6th inning to put the game out of reach, highlighted by a 2-run homer by Senour. The Falcons now led 8-1.
  • The Falcons added 3 more runs in their half of the 7th highlighted by a 2-run homer by Dorn as the Falcons pulled away for the 11-1 victory.
  • Hannah Stegeman picked up the win going 4 innings, allowing just 1 run, while striking out two.
  • Maddie Studnicka came in to pick up the save, throwing 3 shutout innings.

WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST MASSACHUSETTS COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS
  • MCLA got out to an early 1-0 lead after their half of the first inning.
  • Noelle Senour answered for the Falcons with a 2-run homer in the bottom half of the 1st to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.
  • MCLA tied the game up at 2 in the top of the 5th.
  • Senour led off the Falcon half of the 6th with a solo homer to put the Falcons up 3-2. Borchardt followed with a double and then was knocked home by a Galloway single to give the Falcons a 2-run lead. After an Ali Krohn single and a double steal by Krohn and Galloway. Galloway scored when Aiyana Ledwein reached on an error to put the Falcons up 5-2.
  • MCLA was unable to answer in their half of the 7th as the Falcons won 5-2.
  • Hannah Stegeman picked up another win, going 2 and 2/3 innings and not allowing a single run.

The Falcons return home to play a double header against St. Mary's on March 29th. First pitch is at 2pm.
