River Falls, WI (uwrfsports.com)- The UW-River Falls men's hockey team took on the UW-Superior Yellow Jackets on senior night, at Hunt Arena on Thursday night. The night started off with different announcements and achievements on the nine individual seniors: Jeff Bergh, Mike Fazio, Taylor Burden, Michael Lant, Mike Dietrich, Danny Hamburg, Ryan Doner, Christian George, and Mitch Kontny. Seniors, Mike Dietrich and Mike Fazio were able to generate the only goal of the night for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Zach Quinn played in net for the Falcons and had a total of 21 saves with 1 goal allowed.
• The Yellow Jackets were able to score early on in the game to put the score immediately at 1-0. Bruno Birzitis scored the goal at 4:26 in the first period. Tanner Skaja and Liam Blais assisted the goal.
• Matt Audette received a penalty with 8 seconds left in the first period for cross checking. The Falcons were unable to score, but would have 1:52 left on the power play in the second.
• The Falcons had the momentum for most of the first period and outshot the Yellow Jackets 16-10.
• The Falcons started on the power play for the start of the second period, but were unable to score.
• UW-River Falls had another power play opportunity at 11:04 in the second period. The Yellow Jackets, Yves Leemann received a penalty for tripping.
• The Falcons were able to generate many shots on net, but were unable to put the puck in net on power play.
• The Falcons outshot the Yellow Jackets for the second time after period 2 with a shot count of 13 to 9.
• Nik Kosman received the Yellow Jackets third penalty of the game at 9:00 in the third period for slashing. The Falcons only produced three shots on net and were unable to score.
