UW-River Falls Cross Country is set to begin with a strong returning roster. The Falcons women's team returns 10 runners, while the men return nine runners to the 2016 squad.
The UWRF men's cross country team is highlighted by seniors
Julian Manley and
Daniel Borash. Manley, a sophomore from Spring Valley, WI, placed 84th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships out of 280 with a time of 25:27. Manley finished 13th overall at the WIAC Cross Country Championships with a time of 25:57.
The Falcons men's team also returns
Daniel Borash, who is returning from an injury after only competing in one meet in 2015. Borash in 2014 was the top runner on the team with a personal best of 25:08, which would have been the second best time for the Falcons in 2015. Borash was also the 2012 Rookie of the Year and was on the 2012 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
On the women's side,
Abby Fouts returns the top time from 2015. Fouts finished as the Falcons third runner in the WIAC Cross Country Championships with a time of 25:13. Fouts was also the third fastest runner for UWRF at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Rock Island, Illinois last season with a time of 24:12 which was also a personal best.
The Falcons women's cross country team also brings back sophomore
Nicole Jurik. Jurik was the Falcons fourth best runner at the NCAA Midwest Regional with a time of 24:42. She also ran a personal best 24:15 in the Falcon Invitational in 2015. Jurik registered the fastest time for a UWRF freshman in 2015.
UW-River Falls is set to begin their season at Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 3
rd at 9:30 a.m. The Falcons will host their only home meet on September 9
th at Kilkarney Hills golf course at 5 p.m. UWRF will compete in the WIAC Championships on October 29 in Stevens Point at 1 p.m.
