HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcon women capped off an excellent season with a 12th place showing at the Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by UW-Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Club.Â
- The Falcons improved from a 24th place finish last year to take 12th this year out of a field of 38 teams.
- The team was led by Senior Abby Fouts, running the best race of her collegiate career to place 33rd with a time of 22:44, a 17 second lifetime best, and great improvement from her 140th place finish in 2015.Â
- Fouts performance earned her All-Region Honors, the first for the women's team since 2013. Fouts time places her in the Falcons All-Time Top-10.Â
- Running in the second position was sophomore Linsey Tolkkinen, going from 142nd last year, to 51st this year with a 23:03, just off of her personal best.Â
- Close behind was sophomore Nikki Jurik in 23:23, earning 69th, up from her 168th place showing in 2015.Â
- Emily Klatt continued her stellar sophomore campaign with an 88th place finish in 23:45, tying her personal best. Klatt has gone from the team's 9th runner as a freshman, to finishing higher at the Regional Meet as sophomore than the team's number one runner in 2015.
- Rounding out the Falcon five was Junior Kalyn Suhorepetz in her first Regional Championship, finishing as she has most of the season, with a lifetime best. Suhorepetz had an excellent race, running 24:34 for 135th out of 264 runners.Â
- Senior Emma Hayes capped off her final UWRF cross country season by competing at her first Regional Championships with 166th place showing in 25:12, just off of her personal best.Â
- Junior Kimberly Carlson ran her best race of the year, finishing in 182nd with a 25:37, this was also an improvement from her 2015 finish.Â
