STEVENS POINT, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - The UW-River Falls women's cross country team stormed their way to a 5th place showing at the WIAC Cross Country Championships hosted by UW-Stevens Point. Only once since 1980 have the women placed higher.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The team was led by sophomore Linsey Tolkkinen, putting up a stellar performance with a 19th place All-Conference showing.
- Tolkkinen's 22:55 was a lifetime best by over a minute, and places her in the top 20 times in UWRF history.
- Close behind Tolkkinen was Junior Abby Fouts in a lifetime best of 23:01, putting her in the top 20 times in UWRF history and earning her 24th.
- Sophomore Nikki Jurik came in third for the Falcons in 23:20, earning 31st. Jurik's time was another big lifetime best of over 40 seconds, helping her to join her teammates in UWRF's all-time top 20 best.
- Jurik was also nominated by her teammates as UWRF's Conference Sportsmanship recipient.
- Of all the great performances on the day, it was sophomore Emily Klatt's 44th place showing and 23:46 time that put the icing on the cake for the Falcon women. Klatt's run was a 75 second lifetime best and over a 2 and a half minute improvement from last season.
- Rounding out the Falcon five was Junior Kalyn Suhorepetz, with yet another lifetime best, running 24:57 and earning 64th.
- Senior Emma Hayes capped off her final WIAC Cross Country Championship with a 76th place showing and Conference Scholar-Athlete nomination.
- Junior Kimberly Carlson continued her march back with a seasonal best of 25:43.
- Rounding out the Falcons team was freshman Rebekah Wickman, putting up another big personal best by almost a full minute and finishing in 79th.

THE OPPOSITION
- Coming in first individually was Cheyenne Moore from UW-Oshkosh with a time of 21:49.8
- UW-La Crosse took the top team spot with 26 points.
