Box Score EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (uwrfsports.com)- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls women's soccer team traveled to Eau Claire to take on the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds in the quarterfinals of the WIAC Tournament.

The Falcons entered the match as the five seed and the Blugolds entered as the four seed. In their only matchup of the season, the Falcons lost to Eau Claire 2-3.

In this matchup, the Falcons could not overcome two early goals by Eau Claire, as they were defeated 1-2.

Junior
Erica Cimochowski was in goal for the Falcons, and she stopped nine of the 11 shots on goal that she faced.

Sophomore
Abby Soderholm got the action started when she put a shot on the Eau Claire goalkeeper at the 5:25 mark. The Eau Claire goalkeeper stopped Soderholm's shot.

Just under six minutes later, the Blugolds got the scoring started when they slipped a shot past Cimochowski to make the score 0-1.

Freshman
Maggie Koehler tried to equalize the score with the Falcon's second shot on goal of the game, but the Blugold goalkeeper was up to the task when she stopped Koehler's shot.

One minute later, the Blugolds found the net once more to put the Falcons down 0-2.

Just over five minutes later, the Falcons cut the Blugold lead in half when senior
Lizzy Bruder buried one past the Eau Claire goalkeeper. Koehler assisted Bruder on the goal that made the score 1-2.

That was UWRF's last scoring chance of the first half, and they took advantage of the opportunity.

The second half was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to muster up any offense.

UWRF's last chance to knot the match up came at the 78:32 mark, as senior
Missy Barnett put a shot on goal, but was turned away by the Blugold goalkeeper. UWRF did not get any more shots on goal, and were defeated 1-2.

The Falcons were led by Bruder who scored the lone Falcon goal in the match and by Koehler who assisted Bruder on her goal and got two shots on goal.

The loss eliminates the Falcons from the WIAC Tournament and ends their season. The Falcons finish the season 9-8-2.
