Box Score MORRIS, Minn. (uwrfsports.com)- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls women's soccer team traveled to Morris, Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars.
UWRF dominated the whole match and they were too much to handle, as they defeated the non-conference Cougars 5-1.
UWRF was dominant in the opening 12 minutes. The Falcons got off nine shots with two of them getting to the goalkeeper.
At the 17:30 mark UWRF scored the first goal of the game, as
Lizzy Bruder found the back of the net off of a
Kayla Windingstad pass.
Like the first 17 minutes of the match, UWRF dominated the next 14 minutes, but UM-Morris knotted up the game at the 31:20 mark.
UWRF ended the first half just like they began it: with a goal. With four seconds left in the first half,
Caroline Haen rebounded a
Maggie Koehler blocked shot and put it in the back of the net.
The Falcons dominated the whole game, and that continued early in the second half.
Abby Soderholm found the back of the net on a header from a pass from Kayle Windingstad.
After helping out her teammate, Windingstad scored a goal of her own to make the score 4-1 at the 64:38 mark in the second half.
UWRF would tack on one more goal in the second half to make the score 5-1 on a goal from
Tessa Quintavalle.
It was a dominating game for the Falcons on the offensive side of the ball, as well as defensively. It was a combined effort in goal for the Falcons as
Erica Cimochowski was in goal for the first 59:30 and
Talley Halvorson was in goal for the rest of the match.
The win puts the Falcons at 5-7-1 on the season, as the Falcons host conference rival UW-Stout on Tuesday, October 14.
