Soccer Team Falls 4-2 to St. Catherine

The UW-River Falls Falcon soccer team fell 4-2 to the College of St. Catherine Wildcats in the second game of the St. Catherine's Tournament this afternoon.

At 11:18 into the game Alex Swatloski scored the first goal of the season for the Falcons. The Wildcats tied the game up at 34:37 off of a Lensa Gurmessa goal assisted by Nina Bukowski.

Early in the second half at 45:28 Gurmessa scored another goal for SCU to give them the one goal lead. Anna Kouba scored her first goal of the season to tie the game up at 53:20 into the game. SCU would continue to put pressure on the UWRF goal all game. They outshot the Falcons 16-6 and put nine shots on goal compared to four by the UWRF.

With just over one minute to go in the game SCU scored two more goals.

For the second game UWRF split goalies Becca Kramer and Erica Cimochowski. Kramer played the first half with three saves and allowed two goals. Cimochowski played the second half with two saves and allowed two goals.

UWRF will be in action again Wednesday, September 4, for their home opener against St. Mary's University. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
