Women's Swimming and Diving Competes at St. Catherine Invitational

The Falcon women's swimming and diving team competed at the St. Catherine University Invitational on Saturday. The team competed against eight other schools and finished sixth with a total of 234.5 points.

The University of St. Thomas won the overall meet with a total score of 700 points.

Hannah Wiseman (Chippewa Falls) led the Falcons with a first place finish in the women's 1650 yard freestyle race. Wiseman recorded a time of 19:09.19 in the race and her time was 50 seconds better than the second place finisher in the race. She also took twelfth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.92.

Angela Tholen (Grand Rapids) also swam the 1650 free and recorded a tenth place finish with a time of 21:05.20.

Caitlin Gargulak (Rice Lake) took an eighth place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:53.13. Tholen and Madison Probst (River Falls) also locked up team points with finishes of 6:03.91 and 6:05.12.

Sarah Koch (Benilde-St. Margaret's) finished 12th in the 100 yard butterfly and her 1.08.86 was good enough to grab six team points for the Falcons. Koch also finished third in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:27.31.

Katy Dorn (Jefferson)'s time of 2:18.89 in the 200 yard freestyle also gave the Falcons five team points.

Candy Hoelzel (Neenah) and Gargulak won team points in the 100 yard breaststroke with finishes of 1.15.74 and 1:17.49. Both swimmers also swam in the 200 yard breaststroke. Gargulak took seventh with a time of 2:44.29 and Hoelzel took tenth with a time of 2:49.69.

Jasmine Landherr (Cambridge-Isanti) picked up two team points with her finish of 2:38.74 in the 200 yard backstroke.

The team of Koch, Probst, Hoelzel, and Desi Danforth (Andover) finished eighth in the 200 yard freestyle relay. They recorded a time of 1:51.27.

The 200 yard medley relay team of Probst, Gargulak, Landherr, and Wiseman finished ninth with a time of 2:07.64.

The Falcons will return to the pool next Saturday, February 4th, at 1 p.m. for a home meet against Hamline University.
