Lauren Conrad knocked in two goals and
Katie Batters tallied two assists as the Falcons rolled over St. Kates 7-3 Sunday afternoon at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons gained mometum early, moving the puck around on two power plays.
Lauren Conrad (Lino Lakes, MN, Centennial HS) split the pipes 11:36 into the first period for her third goal of the season giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Later in the period at 12:32,
Emma Nordness (Excelsior, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) made it 2-0 with her third goal of the season. She was assisted by
Brook Story (Warroad, MN, Warroad HS). St. Kates cut the defecit to one with a goal of their own at 17:22 but
Jami Weiss (Hermantown, MN, Proctor-Hermantown HS) answered with her third goal of the season to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
Jamie Briski (Chisholm, MN, Hibbing-Chisholm HS) assisted the goal.
Trailing 3-1, the Wildcats struck first in the second period with a goal at 4:29, cutting the Falcon lead to a single goal.
Kayleigh Bell's third goal of the season, making it 4-2 and extending the Falcon lead back to two at 10:53. Two minutes later,
Katie Batters (Champlin, MN, Champlin Park HS) scored her fifth goal of the season to make it 5-2 at 12:54. Conrad's second goal of the game at 17:50 gave the Falcons a three goal cushion.
Midway through the period,
Breanne Hrabe (New Prague, MN, New Prague HS) tallied her sixth goal of the season, giving the Falcons a 7-3 lead. Batters and
Alyssa Jackson (Cambridge, MN, Cambridge-Isanti HS) assisted.
Cassi Campbell (Anchorage, AK, Toronto Rattlers) started the third period for the Falcons in the crease, relieving
Melissa Deardorff (Anchorage, AK, Anchorage North Stars)who stopped 15 of 18 shots in 40:00 and improved to 3-0 on the season. Campbell stopped all ten shots faced in 19:03.
Shelby Rasmussen finished the final 0:57 of the game and did not allow a goal.
Neither team converted on the power play. The Falcons outshot St. Kates 42 to 28.
The Falcons improved to 10-0 on the season and now wait until January 7 when they host Stevens Point. Action is set to get underway at 3:05 pm at Hunt Arena.
